The restructuring of the world-system in this third decade of the twenty-first century has thrust the international community toward a threshold where the rhetoric of international law, multilateral diplomacy, and sustainable development have been reduced to mere discursively engineered fictions for the consolation of the weak. Contemporary geoeconomics is not governed by ethical imperatives or normative consensus, but by an implacable praxis of material domination wherein materials physics, high-density thermodynamics, and quantum processing definitively dictate the ontological hierarchy of nations. At the pinnacle of this order, sovereignty has ceased to be a legal entitlement or a historical achievement, becoming instead a strictly technical function of computational capacity and control over the strategic triad: magnetic confinement nuclear fusion, quantum semiconductors, and molecular simulation algorithms.
The myth of
the ecological transition and global sustainability masks the most stark
reality of late capitalism: a dizzying, asymmetric race for techno-scientific
hegemony. In the most lucid intellectual circles of our time, it is recognized
that the contemporary drama bears a haunting parallel to the classic fairytale
read in childhood, transformed here into a tragedy of high politics and
cybernetics. Like the sovereign who daily interrogates the mirror to confirm a
beauty no longer hers, the traditional rentier and extractivist State
contemplates itself in the reflection of its vast subsoil reserves, believing
the sheer magnitude of its raw resources exempts it from the judgment of
history. Yet the mirror of the global market, a cold and unforgiving financial
valuation algorithm, returns a devastating verdict: in an era where
industrial-scale data centers and quantum information architectures dictate the
law of value, possessing raw materials without mastering the physics of their
transformation equals absolute irrelevance.
The
accelerated development of advanced-generation hydrogen, deep-well geothermal
energy, and quantum computing does not stem from planetary altruism or
ecological salvation, but from the insatiable demand for power required by the
massive data processing of techno-industrial empires. On this chessboard, the
seven dwarfs of the fable are no longer the genial miners of the classic tale,
but the anonymous legions of the global periphery, condemned to dig
relentlessly into the depths of the earth to extract the coltan, lithium,
nickel, and hydrocarbons that feed an exogenously controlled infrastructure.
They labor under the spell of a false autonomy, unaware that the mineral
extracted with blood and sweat serves only to polish the throne of those who
monopolize patents, processing accelerators, and the power to decide the fate
of the species.
In this
architecture of radical subordination, invoking raw resources as a protective
shield crashes headlong into the trap of the poisoned apple: the promise of
transferred green development and tutelary financial integration, a sweet
narcotic that lulls the impulse for scientific self-affirmation under the guise
of passive consumption and ephemeral comfort. To decision-making elites in
Washington, Beijing, or Brussels, the rhetoric of sovereignty, historical
justice, or the moral dilemmas of the Global South are entirely irrelevant. To
supra-state capital and quantum infrastructure, peripheral nations are neither
valid interlocutors nor political subjects; they are mere deposits of raw
energy, inert material, and footnotes on the computational yield curve of the
hegemonic center. Venezuela embodies the existential dilemma of this era: if
the defense of national sovereignty fails to transcend the mere extraction and
custody of the subsoil to become the accelerated mastery of data processing,
artificial intelligence, and heavy cybernetics, the nation will remain
inexorably exposed to a new form of techno-imperialist vassalage, where holding
the largest reserves on the planet will not prevent hegemonic processing
centers from decreeing in milliseconds the historical irrelevance of its rent.
The fate of
subordinate peoples in the immediate horizon will not be decided in the
rostrums of naive diplomacy or in the proclamations of symbolic integration,
but in the capacity of their elites to awaken from their rentier coma and
execute a strategy of cold, analytical precision. The emerging international
order tolerates neither the naivety of the free market nor insular autarky: it
demands the sovereign appropriation of quantum physics, the construction of a
self-sustaining scientific-technological complex, and the redirection of credit
toward high-complexity physical infrastructure. Those social formations that
fail to convert their material reality into computational capacity and
sovereign energy control will be crushed by the new global divergence,
condemned to watch, from a glass coffin, as the world advances into an era
where power is neither negotiated nor inherited: it is calculated, processed,
and exercised by the unappealable force of technique.
